(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (CMZoo) just welcomed a newcomer into their giraffe family on Wednesday, May 28, when one-year-old Kinda (rhymes with Linda) arrived from Brookfield Zoo in Chicago.
CMZoo stated that the name “Kinda” has Swahili and Arabic origins, and according to Brookfield Zoo, it means “beautiful,” an appropriate description for the young giraffe.

According to CMZoo, when Kinda arrived, she calmly strolled off her trailer into the barn and made herself at home, sniffing her surroundings and munching on leafy snacks. Since her arrival, she has been settling in well and has already made friends with Muziki, Laikipia, and Msitu.
CMZoo said that once Kinda gets more comfortable, she’ll meet more of the giraffes and will eventually join the whole group. Until then, whenever the giraffe barn is open to visitors, guests may visit and feed her there.
