(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Children’s Hospital said youth usage of cellphones and social media has been top-of-mind for parents and caregivers.
According to Children’s Hospital, it has seen a 26% increase in kids coming to its system of care’s emergency departments for mental health concerns in June to July 2025, compared to the same time last year. Because of the summer’s increase, Children’s Hospital is on high alert to families’ needs for the fall, as kids approach the difficult mid-terms/holiday season that often aligns with a spike in mental health concerns.
To help answer frequent questions and concerns, Children’s Hospital is holding a virtual community discussion on Monday, Oct. 6. The discussion will feature two experts from Children’s Hospital Colorado and center around social media use and guidance for families. Families interested in joining the discussion on Monday at 6 p.m. can register for the event.
The event is free and open to the public.
