DENVER (KDVR) — Water World is celebrating 28 years of red bellies and “come on, just do it”s, as the water park prepares for its 28th annual Belly Flop Competition on Sunday.
The park said that up to 20 brave men and women will show off their best belly flopping skills, with cash prizes, including a grand prize of $1,000 for the belly and attached person who takes first place in the competition.
Contestants will start with belly flops from a four-foot platform and be rated from one to 10 by a panel of judges. The judges include:
- Former stunt diver, Professor Splash
- Adams County Fair Queen, Sidney Romo
- 2024 winner, Jocelyn Florez
The top three scorers from the four-foot platform will then compete for the grand prize, jumping from the 11-foot platform.
The competition begins on Sunday at 10 a.m., when participants can check in and get their bellies painted. Following the painting, Professor Splash will provide tips to the contestants at 11:30 a.m.
The official Belly Flop Competition begins at noon and is expected to last for about an hour.
