(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Amazon recently opened a new delivery station in Colorado Springs near Garden of the Gods Road, supporting the company’s last-mile delivery efforts in the area.
The facility features new conveyance technology and Rivian-brand electric delivery vehicles. The new technology is designed to help with sorting packages at the facility.
“Before we used to have them, the associates [would] take the package and put it onto a rack, and then we would sort it out. But now it’s all automated. So the packages will go down, it’ll be scanned by a camera. The camera will identify where it’s supposed to go in our sort floor, and then it will automatically divert it to where it needs to go.”
Amazon said it will hire more positions in the Colorado Springs region soon, before the busy holiday season.
