(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Pikes Peak Library District (PPLD) will celebrate its purchase of a previously rented library location on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
The Ruth Holley branch was among several libraries that were slated for potential closure in a 2024 report due to their locations being rented rather than owned by PPLD. The report recommended the closure of both Ruth Holley and the Rockrimmon Library due to budget constraints and lease agreements.
Ultimately, the library district’s Board of Trustees elected to close the Rockrimmon Library in December 2024, citing an expensive lease and unsustainable future for the library district.
In August 2025, the Board voted unanimously to purchase Ruth Holley for $2,248,000. In the same vote, the board also agreed to purchase another previously rented location–Ute Valley Library in Cascade–for $400,000.
On Monday, Nov. 10, PPLD announced the completed purchase of Ruth Holley Library, and invited the community to join PPLD leadership, members of the PPLD board, and representatives from the Pikes Peaks Library District Foundation in commemorating the acquisition and sharing their vision for the Library.
The event will be held from noon – 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12 at the Ruth Holley Library, 685 N. Murray Blvd.
