(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A suspect in a stabbing was arrested after the deployment of a K9 and a chase on South Academy Boulevard near Hancock Expressway.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), officers with the Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) were in the area of South Academy and Hancock looking into numerous complaints about illegal camping and trespassing. While in the area, the officers received information that a stabbing suspect from a previous case, identified as 38-year-old Jeffrey Wallace, was seen nearby.
HOT officers located Wallace on a bicycle, and while they were setting up containment and requesting K9 assistance, briefly lost sight of him. Witnesses then let the officers know that Wallace was still in the containment area.
A K9 officer located Wallace and a chase ensued. Officers converged on Wallace and he was taken into custody without further incident. Wallace was taken to the Criminal Justice Center on his felony assault warrant as well as new charges of obstructing a police officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.
