(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported that detectives found a stolen Dodge Charger and attempted a traffic stop when the driver sped away from police. However, police were able to track the car and make an arrest, in which they discovered fentanyl and methamphetamine on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
According to CSPD, around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, when they discovered the Charger, they identified the driver as 48-year-old Michael Archuleta and tried to pull him over, but he drove off. Police were able to monitor him as he drove to the 4400 block of Frost Drive, near South Murray Boulevard and Pikes Peak Avenue.
CSPD reported that two people got out of the car when police intercepted them in the 200 block of North Murray Boulevard, near East Bijou Street. Police found a misdemeanor amount of narcotics in Archuleta’s possession, including fentanyl and methamphetamine.
According to CSPD, Archuleta has a history of weapons offenses, escape, and motor vehicle theft. Archuleta was arrested and charged with Vehicular Eluding, Motor Vehicle Theft, and Possession of Narcotics.
