(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A vehicle chase ended in police arresting one man for kidnapping and gun threats on Sunday, Sept. 7, around 2 a.m., according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).
CSPD reported that officers responded to the scene at the 100 block of South Academy Boulevard, near Pikes Peak Avenue, where there were reports of a domestic disturbance that allegedly involved a gun. When they arrived at the location, they learned that the suspect had threatened two people with a gun and had kidnapped one, moving her against her will.
According to CSPD, the suspect drove off as officers arrived at the scene, and they chased him, using their patrol car to hit the suspect’s vehicle and end the pursuit. The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Jimmy Melgoza, was taken into custody, and a gun was recovered.
Melgoza was charged with Felony Menacing and 2nd Degree Kidnapping/Domestic Violence, along with traffic charges.
