(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Trees are down, power is out, and homes and vehicles are damaged after severe weather hit a neighborhood in southeast Colorado Springs on Thursday, Aug. 28.
According to FOX21 News viewers Caleb and Julia Krull, who live in the area, the storm hit around 6:45 p.m. and made them think they were in the middle of a tornado. Large trees were toppled, some on top of cars, and just under 300 customers were without power in the area Thursday evening, according to the Colorado Springs Utilities outage map.
That number had dropped down to just over 150 without power going into the overnight hours.

According to the FOX21 Storm Team, the National Weather Service confirmed the severe weather was not a tornado.
