(FORT CARSON, Colo.) — The suspicious packages discovered at Crows Foot Bride on Fort Carson earlier on Thursday were determined not to be a threat, according to Fort Carson.
Fort Carson said the packages were disposed of by the 71st Ordnance Group.
“The Fort Carson community is grateful to EOD technicians and first responders who reacted quickly to the incident and who continue to keep the Mountain Post safe,” Fort Carson said. “There was no threat to the public and all operations on the installation have returned to normal. We appreciate the community’s patience as we worked through this incident.”

ORIGINAL STORY: “Suspicious packages” investigated on Fort Carson
Law enforcement on Fort Carson is investigating and traffic on post is being rerouted after “suspicious packages” were discovered.
According to Fort Carson, the suspicious packages were found at Crows Foot Bridge near the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team’s footprint area. The 71st Ordnance Group – Explosive Ordnance Disposal and Fort Carson Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) were responding as of about 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7.
Fort Carson asked the community to avoid the Crows Foot Bridge area on Butts Road until further notice. DES is on scene, detouring traffic.
Fort Carson said it would provide more information as it becomes available.
