(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A 64-year-old was killed in a crash on the east side of Colorado Springs in July, marking the 30th fatality in the city in 2025.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), officers responded shortly after 8:30 p.m. on July 3 to the intersection of Constitution Avenue and Tutt Boulevard on a report of a three-car crash.
The crash investigation revealed a white Nissan was heading eastbound on Constitution and was making a left turn to head north on Tutt. As the Nissan began the turn, it was hit by a Toyota heading westbound on Constitution. After being hit by the Toyota, the Nissan hit a third car. Two people were taken to the hospital with moderate injuries, CSPD said.
On July 18, CSPD said it was notified that the driver of the Nissan, identified as 64-year-old Peter “Pedro” Sanchez, had died of his injuries. The CSPD Major Crash Team continues to investigate the crash.
Sanchez’ death marks the 30th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2025, which matches the number of fatalities at the same time in 2024. According to CSPD, in the last 365 days, there have been 49 traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs.
