(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) reported that around 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, troopers responded to a crash near Peyton, where one teen had died and three were taken to the hospital.
According to CSP, when troopers arrived at the scene on North Peyton Highway, north of Pinon Road, they found that a Nissan Pathfinder had been driving north on Peyton Highway when it was unable to navigate a left-hand curve and went off the right side of the road. The Pathfinder rolled over, and the driver, a 16-year-old boy, was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the car.
The boy was airlifted to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Two 16-year-old girls and another 16-year-old boy were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The crash is being investigated by the CSP Vehicular Crimes Unit.
