(CAÑON CITY, Colo.) — A second man has been arrested in connection to a March domestic violence shooting that led to a barricaded suspect incident in Cañon City, after the man allegedly tried to influence the victim of the shooting.
According to the Cañon City Police Department (CCPD), officers originally responded on March 29 to a Cañon City hospital on a report of a victim being treated for a gunshot wound sustained during an alleged domestic violence incident. The victim reported the shooting happened at a home in the 2500 block of East Main Street.
Officers responded to the home on Main Street and set up a perimeter, eventually entering the home with assistance from the SWAT team after unsuccessful attempts to communicate with the suspect, 50-year-old Stephen Garrett. Garrett was not found in the home, and a manhunt was launched.
Garrett was later captured in Colorado Springs on April 2.
On June 26, CCPD shared an update and said a second man, 57-year-old Robbie Joseph Hernandez, was arrested on charges that stem from actions that occurred after the original domestic violence shooting, in which Hernandez allegedly tried to influence the testimony of the shooting victim.
Hernandez was arrested on Wednesday, June 25 on multiple felony charges:
- Intimidation of a witness or victim
- Bribing of a witness or victim
- Conspiracy to commit bribery
Hernandez is due in Fremont County Court on July 2.
