(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) is investigating after an inmate was found in her cell unresponsive.
According to PCSO, on Tuesday, June 24, a 32-year-old inmate who had been in custody at the Pueblo County Jail for a little more than 24 hours was found unresponsive. Life-saving measures were initiated by deputies and jail medical staff and were continued by responders from the Pueblo Fire Department and American Medical Response.
The woman was taken to the hospital with a weak heartbeat and later pronounced dead.
PCSO said a preliminary investigation indicates there were no signs of foul play.
