(FREMONT COUNTY, Colo.) — Campers had to pack up and leave on Sat. May 31, after a wildfire started near a southern Colorado campground.
The wildland fire was reported around 11:34 a.m., across County Road 6 from Cutty’s Resort in Coaldale. The fire has grown to about two acres, and as a precaution, the resort was evacuated.
Fire crews from the Western Fremont Fire District had to temporarily pull back for safety as a strong thunderstorm moved into the area. They plan to resume firefighting efforts once conditions improve. County Road 6 is currently closed at Highway 50.
