(FORT CARSON, Colo.) — Members from the 4th Infantry Division and Fort Carson honored soldiers who lost their lives while deployed during a memorial ceremony on Thursday, May 22.
The event was held at the Mountain Post Warrior Memorial, where Major General David Doyle gave the keynote speech.
“We take the time today to recognize the price that they paid to honor their families and to remind our soldiers that what we do comes at a cost,” said Maj. Gen. Doyle.
Since 2004, Fort Carson has commemorated soldiers from the Mountain Post who have lost their lives fighting in support of overseas operations that started in 2003. Fort Carson said a total of 407 names of fallen service members are inscribed on the memorial stones.
This year, no new names were added to the memorial.
